How to set up Geofencing on your Android app.

With the new Android app version 3.2.0 update, you’ll be able to activate Geofencing using the ecobee app. Here’s a quick rundown on how to activate it:

On the app, select the Menu icon at the top left of the screen.

Select the new option "Set up Geofence" Option.

Tap on the slider bar to activate the Geofencing option.

The app will ask to Access Your Location information. Select Allow in order to use Geofencing. (Note the app needs to access your location information in order to use Geofencing.)

If you location information isn’t activated, then select SETTINGS at the bottom of the screen to access the App permissions screen and activate the Location option.

It will then ask, which ecobee you want to participate in Geofencing.

Then set up the parameter by pinching the radius circle for Geofencing to trigger when you Enter and Leave the area, and what action will trigger. If the parameter is too small, the circle will be red. Once the circle is green, then that select parameter is acceptable.

Now your ecobee will change when you leave and arrive at your home. Enjoy!

Geofencing is available on all Android devices running OS version Lolipop 5.0 or higher.
