The first time the ecobee3 is powered, it will walk you through the setup process below and make sure everything is connected and working properly.
- Step 1: Verify wiring
The ecobee3 automatically detects wires connected to the terminals. This is accomplished by detect AC low-voltage on each terminal.
- Step 2: Confirm accessories
If there are any connected accessories such as a humidifier, ecobee3 will help to configure them. If one/two wires are detected on the ACC+/ACC- terminals the thermostat will prompt the user to select an accessory.
- Step 3: Set your HVAC configuration and preferences
Choose Fahrenheit or Celsius, set the thermostat to heating or cooling, and name your thermostat.
- Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi
ecobee3 automatically detects nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. It is compatible with 802.11 b/g/n (2.4Ghz) Wi-Fi routers. Select the network and enter password.
- Step 5: Register the thermostat
Register on ecobee.com with the code provided by the ecobee3 to remotely access your thermostat via smartphone, tablet or desktop.
- Step 6: Activate remote sensors
Stand in front of the ecobee3 and pull the plastic tab on the remote sensor to automatically pair it with the thermostat.
