How do I connect my ecobee thermostat to Apple HomeKit?

This article applies to all ecobee thermostats except Smart, Smart SI, EMS and EMS SI.

You can connect/pair your ecobee thermostat to Apple HomeKit through the Home app or with the ecobee app on your iPhone.

Before proceeding, please ensure:

  • Your iPhone is updated to the latest versions of iOS and the ecobee app.
  • Your ecobee and iPhone are connected to the same 2.4 GHz network.
  • Your ecobee thermostat has a name assigned to it.

To confirm or edit your thermostat's name: On the thermostat screen, tap MAIN MENU > SETTINGS > PREFERENCES, then tap Thermostat Name.
  • That the Wi-Fi signal strength on your ecobee is sufficient (You can check this on the thermostat by going into MAIN MENU > ABOUT > WI-FI on your thermostat; A signal strength lower than 75% may result in connection issues.)

If you're having trouble with Wi-Fi connectivity, please refer to our Wi-Fi troubleshooting article.
