This sometimes happens when Alexa can’t understand the name of your ecobee4. There are a couple of ways you can fix the problem:
- Make sure you’re using your ecobee’s name correctly. To confirm what you’ve named your ecobee, on your thermostat, go to SETTINGS > PREFERENCES > THERMOSTAT. From there you will see what you’ve named your ecobee4 and can try repeating the command to Alexa.
- Make sure that your ecobee’s name is easy to understand. For example, Alexa will sometimes have trouble understanding ‘My ecobee’ or a name that is spelled differently (‘b3dr00m’ vs. “bedroom’).
You can change the name of your ecobee4 at any time by simply going to SETTINGS > PREFERENCES > THERMOSTAT > Input the new name.
